The Eastwoodhill Trust Board Act was passed by Parliament in 1975 to create a governing body to oversee the maintenance and development of Eastwoodhill Arboretum. No financial support was pledged or has ever been received from the New Zealand government or local government agencies.
From the beginning, the Eastwoodhill Trust Board's direction was clear - to ensure the long-term viability of Eastwoodhill Arboretum. Establishing financial stability through income generation and a sustainable endowment fund was imperative. The Trust Board set about seeking donations, bequests and legacies from the people of New Zealand and abroad.
The endowment fund still requires much in donations, legacies and bequests to ensure a viable future for Eastwoodhill and to develop the diverse collection of specimens within the arboretum.
Eastwoodhill Arboretum needs help from interested individuals and groups who are able to provide financial assistance and ensure the future of Eastwoodhill is secure.
Donations of any size are much appreciated by the Trust Board. Donations can be for a specific project, placed into the endowment fund or used to assist in the day to day operation of the Arboretum.
Donations may be forward to the Eastwoodhill office, 2392 Wharekopae Road, Ngatapa, Gisborne, N.Z.
There are several bequest options available:
