25th November 2007 Half Marathon Fun Run/Walk
What a wonderful sunny day we had for our second Eastwoodhill Half Marathon and the new course was much appreciated by competitors as it took them under the leafy canopy and out of the hot sun. An early start and plenty of water stops meant that the weather wasn't a problem and there was plenty of shade provided under the trees for competitors and their families to enjoy a picnic after the event. Some fantastic spot prizes kindly donated by our generous sponsors included a night's accommodation for two in an executive suite at the Emerald Hotel with continental breakfast in the morning, a night's accommodation at the Portside Hotel, vouchers from Cafe Villaggio, Umami Deli, Pharmacy 53, The Works and Soho. There were also vouchers for the Odeon Cinema, some gorgeous wines from KEW and a wonderful prize of $200 worth of native plants for the school with the most entries which was Ngatapa.
A good field for the Half Marathon made it look easy and the winner was Hugh Allison. The 7km Fun Run was won by Taylor Reid. For a full list of the results please refer to the Sport Gisborne website where the results can be downloaded: www.sportgisborne.co.nz
