Events in Autumn 2008
The really dramatic time of year is upon us again and if you have never seen the amazing display of autumn colours at Eastwoodhill then come and visit this year! Stunning displays of colour, crisp mornings and warm days: simply gorgeous. For a glimpse of the delights that this season offers have a look at the April issue of New Zealand House & Garden Magazine which has an in-depth article on Eastwoodhill and some great photos too.
Eastwoodhill Cafe
The Friends of Eastwoodhill are opening their popular cafe during the school holidays this Autumn (Saturday 19th April to Sunday 4th May), serving morning and afternoon teas and light lunches. They are wonderfully tasty as well as good value and make a trip to Eastwoodhill a great choice for a day out at this time of year.
Sunday 20th April - Fantastic Family Fun Day
There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy on this day: fun 'treasure hunts' through the park for all ages and abilities, spot prizes, sausage sizzle, bouncy castle and more... bring a crowd and have a fantastic day out! Details of the hunts are now finalised - you'll need to get your thinking gear dusted off for the Code Breaker Trail as you set off through the Park searching for clues to break the code and discover where in the world did all these trees come from! The Unnatural Trail will have you really thinking about your surroundings - does that object really belong where it is?? How observant are you?? And for the children, a good old-fashioned Scavenger Hunt with all sorts of interesting things to check out along the way. The fun starts at 10.30am and finishes at 1pm when the Spot Prizes are drawn - but you can carry on all day if you want to... Bring a pen or pencil and lots of enthusiasm!
Wet weather postponement - in the event of heavy rain the Fun Day will be one week later on Sunday 27th April.
Sunday 11th May - Mothers' Day Lunch
A wonderful way to treat the special someone in your life! A scrumptious lunch with live music in beautiful surroundings with some lovely touches to make sure they know they are appreciated. A perfect day out for Mothers' Day. This is a ticket only occasion. Tickets will be on sale at the Visitor Centre in Gisborne or from the Eastwoodhill office (06 863 9003) from 1st April 2008 and cost just $35 per person ($25 for Members), which includes a glass of wine and entry to the park. Lunch is at 1pm with refreshments available from 12.30pm - at the Douglas Cook Centre.
Don't forget...
